Delta Kitchen Faucet Head Replacement

If your Delta kitchen faucet is leaking or not functioning properly, replacing the faucet head may be the solution. While it may seem like a daunting task, replacing a Delta kitchen faucet head is a relatively simple project that can be completed in a few hours with the right tools and materials.

Materials Needed:

  • New Delta kitchen faucet head
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Pliers
  • Basin wrench
  • Plumber's putty
  • Teflon tape

Steps:

1. Gather Tools and Materials:
Before starting, gather all necessary tools and materials to ensure a smooth replacement process.

2. Turn Off Water Supply:
Locate the shut-off valves under the sink and turn off both the hot and cold water supply.

3. Disconnect Water Lines:
Using an adjustable wrench, loosen the nuts connecting the water lines to the faucet body. Disconnect the lines and allow any remaining water to drain.

4. Remove Old Faucet Head:
Use a basin wrench to loosen the large nut that secures the faucet head to the body. Lift the old faucet head straight up to remove it.

5. Clean Mounting Surface:
Thoroughly clean the mounting surface where the new faucet head will be installed. Remove any old plumber's putty or debris.

6. Apply Plumber's Putty:
Roll out a small amount of plumber's putty and form it into a ring. Place the ring around the base of the new faucet head.

7. Wrap Teflon Tape:
Wrap several layers of Teflon tape around the threads of the new faucet head's mounting nut.

8. Install New Faucet Head:
Carefully align the new faucet head over the mounting surface and tighten the mounting nut by hand until it is snug.

9. Tighten Nut:
Use the basin wrench to fully tighten the mounting nut. Avoid overtightening.

10. Reconnect Water Lines:
Connect the water supply lines to the new faucet head and tighten the nuts securely using an adjustable wrench.

11. Turn On Water Supply:
Open the shut-off valves under the sink to turn on the water supply.

12. Check for Leaks:
Thoroughly check for any leaks around the faucet head, mounting base, and water lines. Tighten any connections as necessary.

13. Test Faucet:
Operate the faucet to ensure it is functioning properly. Check for smooth water flow and any unusual noises or vibrations.

By following these steps, you can replace your Delta kitchen faucet head and restore its functionality without the need for professional assistance. Remember to take your time, use proper tools, and check for leaks thoroughly to ensure a successful replacement.
